  1. Mr. James Cook
    1. When I was a sophomore, I wrote a researched argument calling for the closing of a nearby nuclear power plant. My teacher disagreed with my position but respected my research and argument. She ended up submitting my paper to a Suffolk University contest; I won a small prize. I like that she set aside her personal opinions to help me. I promise to do the same for you.
    2. hopeful, expectant
    3. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marques (a novel), David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell (a researched argument), and Selections from the Prison Notebooks by Antonio Gramsci. These are the three books I have read (or re-read) recently; I enjoyed each of them.

    1. I really enjoyed researching Jacqueline Kennedy for my midterm project in history. Although finding primary sources was a pain, it was fun to learn of the Kennedy Curse and the "Camelot" age. She's a fascinating woman, intelligent, sophisticated, and aloof. I find people very interesting, which is why I love books and theater. Characters fascinate me, and characters of actual history can be even cooler, since they're real!
    2. strained, obnoxious
    3. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (obviously, who doesn't love it?) Wicked by Gregory Maguire, and Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (poor title, but awesome characters! )

    1. ughh okay I'm redoing my answer because I realized it was super duper long...
      anyways,
      1. My favorite assignment this year was writing an ironic paper for Mr. Telles. My topic was medicinal marijuana and we had to write from the opposite perspective of what we believed. I myself am a supporter of the use of marijuana for medical reasons, so I had to write from the point of view of an overprotective mother.
      2. overbearing but worthwhile
      3. Crank, Glass, and Fallout: all apart of a series by Ellen Hopkins about a girl dealing with addiction.

    1. My favorite assignment from this year was a word project in my English class. I got to learn about how words have changed over the years and all their different definitions.
    2. distressed, drained
    3. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, Looking for Alaska by John Green, and A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. All of these books are quite different from each other, but they all really stuck with me.

    1. My favorite assignment this year having to create a fictitious family for my World of Children class. For this project we had to take what we learned through the unit and apply that in a real life situation. I got a single dad family and had to address all the different parts of the family and create a whole life for the family. I really enjoyed creating it. Also, it was better than taking a test. This project allowed me to be creative rather than have the restrictions that come with taking a test.
    2. Determined and loyal.
    3. I really enjoyed reading The Hunger Games trilogy, The Twilight series, and The Great Gatsby.

    3. Three of my favorite books are Great Expectations, The Old Man and the Sea, and The Pearl.

  11. 1. My favorite assignment that I had during sophomore year was an objective style paper that we did in English. I enjoyed it because instead of writing about a lot of emotions I was able to write about a scene with a lot of details and I am a person that is able to write about something with a lot of detail very easily.
    2. My relationship with Gloucester High School can be described as draining yet, rewarding.
    3. Three of my favorite books are, "The Darkest Minds" by Alexandra Bracken, "Looking for Alaska" by John Green, and "Impulse" by Ellen Hopkins.

  14. 1. My favorite assignment this year was a paper we wrote in English that had to be written in the objective style. I usually write with very descriptive adjectives, so this assignment was challenging for me. I enjoyed the challenge, and even though I had to rewrite it about three times, I came out of it with a new writing skill and that's always something that I can appreciate.
    2. Overbearing but fulfilling
    3. Three books that I enjoyed reading are Looking for Alaska by John Green, The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp, and It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. It's impossible for me to narrow it down to three but those are three that I really connected to emotionally.
